The journey ends, and the young writers' writing journey is always on the road

On July 20th, the one-week "2019 Mao Dun Youth Literature Academy Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Young Writers Camp" successfully concluded. Li Xiaohui, vice chairman of the Chinese Literature Foundation, well-known writers Shen Shixi, Ge Jing, Xi Li, and Chen Chao, head of Xueersi Big Language, attended the closing ceremony and presented honorary certificates to outstanding campers.

Famous writers teaching & professional guidance

A two and a half-hour special lecture condensed decades of writing experience and insights of the famous writers. As the highlight of this study tour, four sessions of the famous writers' special lectures led the students to feel the literary style of the famous writers up close and listen to professional writing guidance.

Yang Hongying: Rejecting "formalism-returning to the true emotional core of literature"

On the first day of the camp, Teacher Yang Hongying shared her precious experience of "creation stemming from life" for everyone. She said that literary creation is not merely a stack of words on the surface, it should be a result of deep inner thoughts, reflection on life practice, and practical use after extensive reading.

Ge Jing: Unique narrative style-how to develop one's own style

How does a personal writing style form? Teacher Ge Jing gave three keywords: read, write, think. "Reading ten thousand books, writing as if inspired by a deity", only continuous input and output can gradually help to discover one's own style.

Shen Shixi: Imagination and reality-talking about the basic methods of non-fiction writing

"Animal Novel King" Teacher Shen Shixi, combined with his own creative experience, told the story of raising elephants in Yunnan during fieldwork, and used it to tell everyone: writing is not aimless imagination; it is based on life experience and feelings, expressing the most genuine emotions.

Xi Li: Telling a complex story-how to tell a good story

Teacher Xi Li shared the techniques of telling a complex story from different perspectives. She pointed out that while students need to accumulate vast reading and travel experiences, they also need to think diligently in order to construct a complete and rich story structure.

Being able to interact up close with childhood idols, the students could not conceal their excitement and enthusiastically spoke and asked questions. As the writers mentioned, literary creation is an expression of life and practice. Only through extensive accumulation, good reading, diligent writing and deep thinking can they write truly touching and inspiring articles.

Study Tour Collecting Inspiration Broadens Horizons

"Thousands of books in the countryside, knowledge from thousands of miles of travel", social practice is an extension and consolidation of classroom learning, as well as the best way to broaden perspectives, enrich literary thinking, and capture inspiration. Under the guidance of the teachers, the young teenagers delved into the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, experiencing the changes of the times and the beauty of culture in the historical heritage, capturing what they saw and heard in writing, expressing the spirit of the young.

Walking in the Zhuhai Air Show Center, we can appreciate the vigorous development and rigorousness of our country's aviation industry; approaching the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, we understand the exquisite craftsmanship and innovative ideas behind it. Witnessing the power of the nation, the students also couldn't help but feel pride and a sense of mission.

The Beauty of Traditional Culture>>

Profound historical and cultural accumulation has accumulated the wisdom and creativity of countless sages. Through the exhibition halls of the Zhuhai Museum and the Macao Museum and other places, the students, under the guidance of the interpreters, traced back the origins of cultural inheritance and felt the charm of literature. During the visit to Sun Yat-sen's former residence, the students started asking questions like little experts, and seemed to understand Sun Yat-sen's ideal and pursuit of "Heaven is for all".

The Beauty of Local Culture>>

St. Paul's Ruins, Rosary Church, A-Ma Temple...wandering among these world cultural heritage sites, the students truly felt the development and changes of Macao and the unique atmosphere of local customs and cultures.

During this time, the students also received enthusiastic reception from the Macao Foundation. Zhong Yi, vice chairman of the Administrative Committee of the Macao Foundation welcomed the students at the opening ceremony and expressed that this year marks the 20th anniversary of Macao's return. She hoped to promote cultural exchanges between the mainland and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area through this activity, to evoke the students' identity and resonance with the inheritance of Chinese culture, and also hoped that the students would gain more excitement during this journey.

Expressing Feelings Writing Down Dreams

What are the gains from a week-long journey? For these teenagers, this Mao Dun Youth Writers Camp not only provided them with a study tour experience but also training and improvement in their literary literacy, aesthetic appreciation of literature, and writing capabilities.

Camper Zhang Yuxuan said, "During this journey, I not only made friends who share the same love for literature with me, but also gained knowledge and broadened my horizons. Through the study tour, practice, and exercises, it has deepened my understanding of writing."

Camper Duan Guobin said, "I never thought I'd be able to listen to famous writers tell their own creative experiences and share their writing experiences from such close proximity. I am very grateful for this fulfilling journey, which has given me more confidence and love for literature. I am looking forward to participating in such activities again in the future."

Zhang Hongyan, a student from the poor mountainous area of Pengshui, Chongqing, as a representative of outstanding campers, gave a closing speech, reviewing the gains and insights of this trip to the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and expressed gratitude to Xueersi Big Language for their public welfare support, allowing them the opportunity to experience the richness and breadth of the world and enjoy high-quality literary resources. Under the influence of the few days of literary atmosphere, she has greatly improved both her writing and life abilities, and looks forward to the day when everyone can go to her hometown to write about the beauty of Pengshui.

The young writers gained a lot, and the parents also had high praise for this writer's camp. The children not only learned writing skills, but also made significant progress in their abilities to act independently, socialize, and express themselves, which is of great significance to their growth.
