On April 9th, the "First Education Public Welfare Sharing Forum" was held in Beijing. Renowned education experts from Peking University and the 21st Century Education Research Institute, as well as heavyweight guests from the government, enterprises, media, charities, research institutions, and other fields, conducted wonderful sharing and discussions on the topic of "the future of education."

Mr. Zhang Bangxin, the founder and CEO of the Good Future Group, delivered a speech at the forum, calling for attention to education in rural areas and working together to promote the realization of educational equity.

Educational Public Welfare, Using Intelligence to Help Eradicate Poverty

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for their support of the Far Mountain Public Welfare Foundation and welcome everyone to the "First Education Public Welfare Sharing Forum" of the Far Mountain.

As one of the initiators of the Far Mountain Public Welfare Foundation, I want to express my special thanks for the companionship and support over the years. Especially grateful to the participants in the first phase of the foundation, who not only contributed their efforts, but also spent time, thoughts, and wisdom on the Far Mountain Public Welfare Foundation. Time, energy, and thoughts are more valuable than money.

Since its establishment in 2018, the Far Mountain Public Welfare Foundation has been committed to providing support to students and schools in remote areas by leveraging Internet+ education technology, using dual-teacher classrooms, teacher training, and AI classrooms. We hope to make a contribution within our capabilities to promote the realization of educational equity and eliminate the obstacles to education imbalance for some children. We use intelligence to help eradicate poverty and to empower education.

The Dream Journey of a Tibetan Student

Here, I would like to tell you a story. In Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, there is a girl named Ren Qingzhuoma whose dream is to study law, become a judge, or work as a lawyer.

For students like Qingzhuoma, the college entrance examination is not an easy task. They not only need to answer in Chinese but also need to answer in English. However, the lack of high-quality middle school English teaching resources in Qingzhuoma's area became an obstacle on her and her classmates' journey to realizing their dreams.

In 2019, the Far Mountain Public Welfare Foundation specifically set up dual-teacher English classrooms in many western regions. Such classrooms also reached Tongren Middle School, where Qingzhuoma studied. Mr. Yin Chaoyang from the Far Mountain Public Welfare Foundation, together with Qingzhuoma's teacher, Mr. Nori, provided more suitable English lessons for the children who want to prepare for the college entrance exam.

Mr. Yin's classes are funny and informative, and Qingzhuoma likes them very much. She was very active in her study, made good progress, and gained confidence, making steady progress day by day. After the college entrance examination, she received an admission notice from the Law School of Nanchang University.

We are very happy to see these children change their destinies through learning and truly benefit from educational public welfare. Now, Ren Qingzhuoma is already a first-year law student. When the teacher lectures entirely in English, she still feels a bit challenged, but she is confident and no longer doubts her ability to learn English like she did two years ago.

Qingzhuoma's story is not unique. In 2020, four students from Qingzhuoma's previous school benefited from the dual-teacher English course and successfully enrolled in their ideal universities and majors.

Technology Makes Education Warmer

In China, there are many schools like Tongren Middle School, where subjects are weak and in need of assistance and support for the students in remote areas. Once each educational public welfare project is implemented, it will change the life trajectory and learning process of many children.

Three years ago, when Mr. Yu Minhong and I discussed starting philanthropic projects, we began to think that there are many organizations and people doing philanthropy. As an educational organization, we can amplify high-quality resources through the combination of technology and education, through the medium of dual-teachers and AI courses.

So what we are looking forward to is: Technology makes education warmer. Through the perfect combination of the two, we hope to lower the threshold for high-quality education and allow all students, regardless of regional and economic differences, to cross the threshold, learn together, and grow together, which is educational equity.

2020 was a very extraordinary year. The world encountered the COVID-19 pandemic, and the world underwent unprecedented changes. Educational colleagues with ideals and original intentions also faced many difficulties in this year, but we always persevered for the students. The vast number of educators fought on the front lines of epidemic prevention and online learning, safeguarding the physical and mental health of hundreds of millions of students, and supporting the largest-scale online education in the world, making significant contributions to fighting the epidemic and resuming teaching comprehensively and orderly.

We have faced challenges and shown responsibility. The Far Mountain Public Welfare Foundation has many member organizations, such as New Oriental, Uncle Kai's Storytelling, Love Learning, etc., which provided teaching and service resources to society for free at the earliest opportunity. At the beginning of the epidemic, the Good Future Group opened online teaching systems such as live broadcast cloud, helping tens of thousands of schools, institutions, and 140,000 teachers to get through the difficult times.

On March 6th, when visiting National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) members, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized the need to adhere to the principle of the public welfare nature of education, strive to build a quality and balanced basic public education service system, construct a high-quality education system, and run satisfactory education services for the people. General Secretary Xi stressed the importance of intensifying targeted training and precise training for teachers in underdeveloped areas in the central and western regions and thoroughly implementing the support plan for rural teachers.

Our gathering today and the direction of our efforts at the Far Mountain Public Welfare Foundation are to fulfill the instructions of General Secretary Xi. Education is the hope of countless families, and achieving universal education in remote areas is still a long way off. How to provide better and fair education for more children in remote areas is an important issue facing educators.

Colleagues and friends, from poverty alleviation to rural revitalization, let us join hands, pay long-term attention to rural education, assist rural education, help rural teachers, benefit rural students, revitalize rural areas through education, and ensure that every child has a better tomorrow.

Thank you!
