"Tablets have become the 'standard equipment' for our classes." At Suiyuan Experimental School in Song County, Henan Province, TAL Education Group provides a smart education solution, helping teachers collectively prepare lessons and continuously improve their teaching abilities and levels while changing the way children learn using information technology tools and an excellent teacher training team.
"As an education technology company, we are committed to promoting educational equality and assisting educational equity through means such as the internet and artificial intelligence," said Zhang Bangxin, founder and CEO of TAL Education Group.
Using the internet to fill educational gaps
In some Suiyuan Experimental Schools, there will be two teachers: one from TAL Education Group, who teaches through live webcasts, and another from the school, responsible for teaching guidance before and after class. This effectively promotes the unity of "learning" and "teaching."
In August last year, the Shanghai Education Commission and TAL Education Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement to create a group of demonstration schools for educational informatization in Shanghai. TAL Education Group will bring its digital education resources and technology into classroom teaching, use VR and other technologies to stimulate students' interest, assist teachers in analyzing the effects, and develop personalized teaching plans.
Zhang Bangxin introduced that TAL Education Group now has more than 5,000 content and technology R&D personnel and invests more than ten billion yuan in R&D annually. This year, TAL Education Group was also approved to establish the first post-doctoral research work station in the education industry, mainly recruiting top talents in the fields of artificial intelligence, neuroscience, education, and other educational technology areas. "In the future, TAL Education Group will continue to increase investment and focus on developing core technologies," said Zhang Bangxin.
Developing educational research programs to share educational resources
Zhaojue County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, is the largest county with Yi ethnic minority inhabited and is a key county for national poverty alleviation work. For Yi children living deep in the mountains, not being able to speak Mandarin is their biggest obstacle to communicating and learning with the outside world.
TAL Education Group paid attention to this problem and developed the "AI Mandarin Teaching System" using its own teaching and program development resources. The "AI teacher" in the system can provide real-time intelligent evaluation and correction of the pronunciation of Mandarin for the children. "This work is very important for Zhaojue county and can promote the popularization and promotion of Mandarin in the local area," said An Lida.
In October 2018, TAL Education Group signed a smart education agreement with the People's Government of Liangshan Prefecture to provide "AI Mandarin Teaching System" to more schools in Liangshan Prefecture and planned to deploy the "Hope Online" platform education resources throughout the entire basic education stage from primary school to high school to help achieve educational equity. In addition, TAL Education Group's public welfare foundation has been carrying out support actions in various stages of primary, middle, and early childhood education in places such as Liangshan Prefecture in Sichuan, Foping County in Shaanxi, Jimunai County in Xinjiang, and Xiong County in Hebei.
In recent years, with the formal implementation of the new revised "PRC Private Education Promotion Law", private education has continued to move towards standardization.
It is understood that TAL Education Group has been striving to strengthen its own construction. Under the premise of doing a good job in education and teaching, it actively carries out party building work, proactively establishes the group party committee, and currently has more than 6,000 in-service party members, accounting for 19%.
