TAL Smart Education has brought the classroom to the homes of students at Dawu Siyuan Experimental School in Hubei!

No winter is insurmountable, and every spring will eventually arrive. "Classes Suspended but Learning Continues" — let us welcome this special spring with practical actions. Amidst the current pandemic, TAL Smart Education has used the "Online Live Streaming Platform + Xueersi Online School Quality Live Courses" to help students across the country, especially those in Hubei, bring their classrooms home.

On January 30, responding to the implementation plan on organizing online teaching for students during the epidemic issued by the Xiaogan Education Bureau of Hubei Province, Dawu Siyuan Experimental School organized online joint teaching research to prepare for the prolonged fight against the epidemic.

“With the development of the epidemic, the Hubei Provincial Department of Education announced a delay in school reopening, and we immediately considered conducting online teaching,” said Zhang Dan, Vice Principal of Dawu

Siyuan Experimental School in Hubei.

Located in a severely affected area, Dawu Siyuan Experimental School quickly formulated learning plans and initiated measures to delay the reopening under the guidance of Principal Zong Hongwei. “During this special period, we will convert our dual-teacher courses to online courses, and the morning studies will primarily consist of Xueersi Online School's live courses,” said Wu Xiaoli, Director of the Ninth Grade Division of Dawu Siyuan Experimental School in Hubei.

Online learning is not new to Dawu Siyuan Experimental School. “We started online courses last year, so it's not difficult for us to learn from home using recorded dual-teacher classrooms!” In October 2019, Dawu Siyuan Experimental School began interactive dual-teacher online classrooms with TAL Smart Education, and after half a semester, students were already accustomed to this new learning mode.

Due to school suspensions, classroom instruction cannot proceed as usual, so the school decided to adjust the dual-teacher interactive online classrooms to recorded format and arranged synchronized learning times.

Wu Xiaoli mentioned that "although not difficult, there are differences to overcome.” In dual-teacher classrooms at school, there is interactive functionality between the main teacher and students, whereas at home, the recorded courses can be paused and replayed. Teachers and students at Dawu Siyuan Experimental School were learning new system tools with the help of TAL educators.

The online classroom features diverse schedules that stimulate high learning interest. “We referenced the course schedule of Xueersi Online School's live classes and tailored it to the needs of ninth-grade students to create our own learning timetable.” The free online courses from Xueersi Online School not only consolidate the knowledge learned before the winter vacation in various subjects but also offer various developmental courses in fields like technology and psychology, as well as specialized courses in geography and master classes.

With Xueersi Online School’s live courses and recorded dual-teacher classroom videos, ninth grade students can maintain their learning states from home. The school assists by uploading post-class notes and timely key tips from offline tutors in class groups to help students stay focused during online lessons.

With the upcoming high school entrance exam, the impact of school suspension is significant. Wu Xiaoli emphasized that this online learning arrangement is helpful for students to review and solidify their knowledge, maintaining a high level of focus through diverse and experienced teaching styles offered by Xueersi Online School.

Every student's learning must not be left behind. Seeing the engagement of ninth-grade students watching recorded lessons and their note-taking and questions in the class group moved Wu Xiaoli deeply. “The whole family accompanies the children to watch live courses together — this is a unique celebration during this pandemic,” she added proudly.

Starting from February 4, the school began organizing teachers to prepare lessons online, ready for the possible implementation of teacher live streaming. Vice Principal Zhang Dan mentioned that Dawu Siyuan Experimental School would adjust the online teaching model based on the content of Xueersi Online School courses and the development of the epidemic, preparing comprehensively for this prolonged battle.

Various regions have postponed school reopenings, signaling the urgent need for online learning and interaction for front-line teachers and students. Like Dawu Siyuan Experimental School, schools nationwide actively sought suitable tools and resources to maintain continuous learning despite class suspensions.

Since the outbreak, TAL Smart Education, in response to guidelines like the Enshi Prefecture's implementation plan for network teaching during the epidemic, has provided online live teaching systems and Xueersi Online School live course services to 118 schools in the Hubei region for free.

Currently, TAL Smart Education has completed the deployment of online live teaching systems and teaching training services for over 300 schools in 49 cities and counties nationwide, with Xueersi Online School course resources covering subjects such as Chinese, Physics, Chemistry, English, Physical Education, and Art, serving over 5 million teachers and students for free. We believe that with collaborative efforts, the cold winter will eventually pass, and the spring will surely arrive on schedule!
