On November 11th, the first Special Representative for European Affairs of the Chinese government and the Co-Chair of the Institute for Sustainable Development at Tsinghua University, Wu Hongbo, visited the headquarters of TAL Education Group for research and guidance, and held discussions with TAL Education Group's Chief Public Affairs Officer, Wan Yiting.
Wu Hongbo has served as the United Nations Under-Secretary-General, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Chinese Ambassador to Germany and the Philippines, and he is also very concerned about the development of education.
Wu Hongbo and his team experienced TAL Education Group's independently developed WISROOM intelligent classroom.
Wu Hongbo and his team learned about the development process of TAL Education Group in detail. They then experienced TAL Education Group's independently developed WISROOM intelligent classroom and AI Mandarin teacher system, and interacted with the AI teacher.
During the meeting, Wan Yiting introduced that the mission of TAL Education Group is to promote education progress through technology. In recent years, with continuous investment in scientific research, TAL Education Group has made breakthroughs in education technology such as artificial intelligence and big data, and has also received a series of national-level honors. TAL Education Group hopes to continuously inspire children's learning motivation and cultivate lifelong skills, supplement mainstream education, and innovate new models for cultivating students through collaboration between schools and outside institutions.
Wu Hongbo expressed that he was very surprised by the development of TAL Education Group and proud of their achievements in education technology. TAL Education Group, through technology, enhances the quality of education and promotes educational equity, effectively fulfilling the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 of providing inclusive and quality education for all and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Wu Hongbo emphasized that in today's world, international competition is essentially competition in technology. Whoever grasps education, grasps the future. For the next steps in the development of TAL Education Group, Wu Hongbo made three suggestions. First, strengthen moral education and grasp the direction of educating children to truly educate the next generation. Second, strengthen content design that encourages hands-on and creative thinking. Chinese children often have high intelligence but lack in communication and practical skills. He hopes TAL Education Group can improve in these areas to develop children's communication and practical abilities. Third, he hopes to tell the Chinese story in international exchanges. He hopes TAL Education Group will focus on learning international narrative methods in international exchanges and pass them on to more Chinese children.
Zhu Xufeng, Executive Dean of the Institute for Sustainable Development at Tsinghua University and Vice Dean of the School of Public Administration, introduced the development of the institute. The Institute for Sustainable Development at Tsinghua University is dedicated to in-depth interdisciplinary research on the overall framework, policy implementation, and specific goals of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); it comprehensively promotes experience exchange and mutual learning with relevant United Nations agencies and international peers in various fields of SDGs. Zhu Xufeng expressed hope for more cooperation and exchanges with TAL Education Group in implementing United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 1 and 4.
After the research, Wu Hongbo and his team took a group photo with Wan Yiting and others.
